Surgical removal of the breast. The different types of mastectomy include:
Radical: total removal of the breast, the muscles of the pectoral region and the associated skin;
Modified radical: total removal of the breast and associated skin, with preservation of the muscles of the pectoral region;
Adenomastectomy: removal of breast tissue, with preservation of muscles and skin.
