TOXICITY

The toxicity of a treatment encompasses the set of possible side effects of that treatment. In oncology, toxicity can result from a therapeutic modality, such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy; or to a treatment regimen, such as the combination of two or more chemotherapeutic agents; or to a specific medication.

The assessment of the toxicity of a drug or therapeutic method is carried out throughout the various stages of clinical research that are crossed before the approval of the treatment for regular use. This evaluation involves, in addition to the characterization of side effects, the conditions and doses at which they occur.
