RETROPERITONEUM

The retroperitoneum is the anatomical space located behind the abdominal cavity called the peritoneum, which is the membrane that lines the abdominal wall. In this space, some organs are located, such as the pancreas and the kidneys, as well as part of the intestine.

There are different methods for evaluating the retroperitoneum, and they may include, each of which is decided according to medical indications:

  • Ultrasound
  • Computed Tomography
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging
  • X-ray
  • Angiography
