Neoplasia is any abnormal and uncontrolled proliferation of cells, resulting in a benign or malignant tumor.
Benign neoplasms are non-cancerous and typically do not spread to other parts of the body. However, throughout the evolution of a neoplasm, it is common to find more than one type of cell, due to the occurrence of new mutations, such as spleen neoplasm.
Malignant neoplasms are also known as cancer and can invade nearby tissues or metastasize to distant organs.
