CARCINOGENIC

Carcinogenic refers to any chemical, physical, or biological agent that can cause cancer.

Examples of chemical carcinogens:

  • Substances present in tobacco.
  • Certain chemical solvents.
  • Industrial chemicals.

Examples of physical carcinogens:

  • Ultraviolet radiation.
  • Radioactivity.

Example of biological carcinogens:

  • Papillomavirus.
  • Epstein-Barr virus.

Prolonged exposure to these substances can increase the risk of cancer, such as lung cancer, non-melanoma skin cancer, among others.
