BRACHYTHERAPY

Brachytherapy is one form of radiation therapy treatment, where the radiation source is located near or even inside the patient’s body.

In brachytherapy, sources emitting low-energy radiation are used, capable of traveling short distances and penetrating only a few millimeters or centimeters into the tissues of the body.In other words, internal radiation therapy is concentrated on the tissues of interest (e.g., the tumor).
