Astrocytomas are tumors that can develop in the brain, cerebellum, or spinal cord.
They are characterized by the proliferation of astrocytes, cells responsible for various functions, including the formation of the structural framework of the central nervous system, the supply of nutrients to neurons, and the repair and replacement of damaged cells in the central nervous system.
Astrocytomas can be classified into grades I to IV, depending on their aggressiveness, also known as GLIOBLASTOMA.
Radiation therapy, chemotherapy, or surgery are some of the recommended treatments for this type of tumor.
