ANGIOGENESIS

Angiogenesis refers to the formation of new blood vessels, stimulated by tumor growth. It allows the tumor to continue receiving blood supply and nutrients as it develops.

Some new medications, belonging to the class of molecular-targeted drugs, are designed to inhibit angiogenesis. They are commonly used in treatments like targeted therapies to block tumor growth or reduce lesions.

Endothelial cells, which line the interior of blood vessels, multiply, migrate, and form new vessels from existing capillaries.

Several factors control this process, including signaling proteins, growth factors, and chemicals from surrounding cells.

Understanding how blood vessels grow, known as angiogenesis, is important for guiding specialized and personalized treatment to control tumor growth, as provided at Oncoclínicas.
